Sweet Words (C)

sometimes we heard it from a cook show...but never knows what the heck are the they talking about...here are some 'chef's words'...


Chantilly cream

  • sweetened or flavoured whipped cream
  • Origin: from Chantilly, Paris in mid 19th century
choux pastry
  • very light, round, cream-filled pastry made with egg, typically used for eclairs and profiteroles
  • Origin: in late 19th century, from French word 'chou' or 'choux' (plural), which means cabbage or rosette


churro
  • a sweet Spanish snack consisting of a strip of fried dough dusted with sugar or cinnamon




cracknel
  • a light, crisp, savoury biscuit
  • a brittle sweet made from melted sugar, typically containing nuts
  • Origin: late Middle English, from alteration of Old French craquelin, from Middle Dutch krākelinc, from krāken 'to crack'
